Small aircraft makes emergency sea landing off Rize, Turkey
A two-person private aircraft, an Aerospool WT-9 Dynamic registered as F-JIGU, made an emergency landing in the Black Sea off the coast of Rize, Turkey, following an engine failure.
The flight originated from Batumi, Georgia, and was traveling toward Ordu-Giresun Airport. Upon reporting the technical issue, the Turkish Coast Guard deployed a ship (TCSG-307), two boats (KB-101 and KB-29), and a diving team to the location near the Rize-Artvin Airport.
Both occupants, identified as two Belgian male citizens, were rescued from the aircraft alive and conscious. Rize Governor Baydaş confirmed that the survivors are not in life-threatening condition. They were transported to Kaçkar State Hospital for precautionary medical evaluation.
