Small Prophets renewed for second season by BBC

The BBC has renewed the comedy series ‘Small Prophets’ for a second season following the success of its first run. Created, written, and directed by Mackenzie Crook, the show has become a significant hit for the broadcaster, with viewership reaching up to 9.2 million viewers.

Set in and around Manchester, the series follows Michael Sleep, a DIY store worker who attempts to create Homunculi—magical prophesying spirits—in his garden shed with the help of his father, Brian. The production is a collaboration between Treasure Trove Productions and Channel X North, produced by Gill Isles.

While one report indicates the series will move from BBC Two to BBC One for its second installment, another suggests a move from BBC One to BBC Two, with a scheduled premiere in 2027.
