Small savings scheme interest rates face quarterly review

The government is scheduled to review interest rates for various small savings schemes on September 30. This review will determine the rates applicable for the October-December quarter for popular investment options, including the Public Provident Fund (PPF) and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), as well as Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP).

Investors are monitoring government bond yields as a primary indicator for potential changes. Data shows that the yield on the 10-year government bond rose from approximately 6.74% on June 30, 2026, to around 7.05% by September 22, representing an increase of about 31 basis points. In the previous quarterly review conducted on June 30, 2026, no changes were made to the interest rates of major schemes.
