Smart #2 electric city car to debut in 2026
Smart has unveiled the Smart #2, a two-seater electric city car designed to revive the ultra-compact segment. The vehicle features a length of approximately 2.75 meters and is built on the Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform.
Technical specifications include a 60 kW rear-mounted motor and a 35.8 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery. The battery supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in roughly 20 minutes via a 65 kW DC station and includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities. Depending on the testing cycle, the car offers an autonomy of up to 410 km (CLTC) or 290 km in other regions.
The model was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026. Commercial availability is expected in 2027, with a specific launch scheduled for China on November 5, 2026. In Europe, the vehicle will be offered in three trims: Pure, Premium, and a limited Couture edition, which is restricted to 999 units across the continent.
