Smart announces #2 as electric successor to the Fortwo

Smart is preparing to launch the #2, an electric successor to the Fortwo. The brand is currently a 50/50 joint venture between the German manufacturer Mercedes and the Chinese company Geely.

Under this partnership, Mercedes is responsible for design, while Geely handles technology and production. Although the brand previously focused on larger models like the #1, #3, and #5, the #2 aims to return to the brand's roots as a small, affordable, and agile two-door city car. The vehicle will utilize Geely's Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform, featuring independent suspension and a rear-axle motor.
