João Pessoa’s Atlas Filipeia wins top prize at Smart Cities Park 2026

The municipality of João Pessoa was awarded first place in the Smart Cities category of the Smart Cities Park 2026, held from 10‑12 May in Campina Grande, Paraíba. The winning project, Atlas Filipeia – Mapas da Cidade, is a geospatial portal that provides dynamic maps, neighborhood profiles and historic city data, serving more than 1.3 million users. Secretary of Planning Ayrton Falcão said, “O Atlas contribui diariamente com a cidade de João Pessoa, simplificando processos…”, adding that “São informações de muita utilidade para gestores públicos…”. Director of Geoprocessing Carlos Ribeiro noted his pride in the initiative, stating, “Me sinto muito feliz de que uma iniciativa despretensiosa foi reconhecida como vencedora”. The event, the first Smart Cities Park held in Brazil’s Northeast, was organized by the Federation of Municipal Associations of Paraíba (Famup) in partnership with the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM) and attracted mayors, secretaries, engineers, researchers and startups from across the country.

In the same ceremony, João Pessoa’s Procon‑JP Digital program, featuring the “Mapas de Preços das Pesquisas” app, secured first place in the Inclusion Social category. The award highlighted the city’s efforts to digitize consumer‑price information and improve public service delivery.
