Smart Communications secures GSMA certification for fraud detection APIs

Smart Communications Inc. has secured GSMA certification for its SIM Swap and Device Swap application programming interfaces (APIs). These tools are part of the SmartSafe NetIdentity solution, which is offered under the PLDT Enterprise SmartSafe suite.

The certified APIs allow businesses—including banks, fintech companies, e-commerce platforms, and gaming providers—to detect potential fraud by identifying suspicious changes to customer accounts. The SIM Swap API monitors if a mobile number has recently moved to a new SIM, while the Device Swap API detects if a SIM card has been transferred to a different device. These indicators can signal account takeovers or unauthorized activity.

By leveraging signals from the network, these APIs enable enterprises to implement additional security checks and enhance verification for high-risk transactions without requiring extra steps from users during every login or payment.
