Smart e-Mobility Competition for university students to be held in Yeonggwang

The 2026 Smart e-Mobility Competition for university students will be held from October 2 to 4 at the Korea Automotive Technology Institute's Jeonnam branch in Yeonggwang, South Korea. Jointly hosted by the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers, the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, Jeonnam Province, and Yeonggwang County, the event features approximately 45 teams from 38 to 39 universities, involving roughly 1,300 to 1,500 students.

Participants will compete using single-seater electric racing cars they designed and built themselves. The competition includes categories such as acceleration, gymkhana, driving performance, and endurance racing. To better align with industry standards, this year's technical regulations have been significantly updated to prioritize safety and reliability. Key changes include increased wheelbase requirements, larger tire specifications, improved driver protection structures, and more stringent electrical safety standards for high and low voltage systems.

The competition aims to foster future automotive experts by providing hands-on experience in electric vehicle design and manufacturing. Top performers will be eligible for awards, including the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award and the Jeonnam Governor Award.
