Smart lighting technologies implemented in Trenčín and Písek
Municipalities in Slovakia and the Czech Republic are implementing advanced lighting technologies to improve energy efficiency and urban infrastructure.
In Trenčín, Slovakia, the renovation of Hviezdoslavovo Square features modular smart poles from Hess CityElements. These multifunctional units integrate LED lighting with WiFi, cameras, and speakers into a single vertical structure, reducing visual clutter in the historic center. The project is part of the city's preparations for its role as the European Capital of Culture 2026.
In Písek, Czech Republic, a pilot project at the Tomáš Šobr Primary School has introduced full-spectrum LED lighting designed to mimic natural daylight. Developed through a partnership between Energetická správa Písek and Spectrasol, this pro-cognitive lighting aims to improve student concentration and visual comfort while potentially reducing electricity consumption by over 50 percent.
