Smart meter technologies deployed in Uganda and Norway

In Uganda, Pandora Networks EA Limited has introduced Pandora Smart Digital Sub-Meters to assist landlords, property managers, and businesses in managing electricity consumption. The digital prepaid system allows individual rental units to have separate meters, enabling tenants to purchase electricity credit via mobile phones and providing property owners with an organized method for monitoring usage and collecting payments.

In Norway, the implementation of Advanced Metering Systems (AMS) has transitioned electricity consumers to smart meters that automatically register and send consumption data to power companies at least once per hour. These meters feature a Home Area Network (HAN) port, which allows users to access real-time electricity usage data through M-Bus standard converters after requesting remote activation from their utility provider.
