SmartFilms República Dominicana sees rise in horror short films
The SmartFilms República Dominicana festival has observed a notable increase in horror-themed short films among its submissions this year. Producers Danilo Reynoso and Evelyna Rodríguez noted that the festival received 343 entries, up from 240 in the previous edition, showing a growing diversity in genres.
In addition to the rise in horror, there has been a significant presence of family dramas and themes related to mental health, including stories addressing depression and suicide. The festival allows participants creative freedom to develop their own stories, often using mobile devices for production.
