Smartphone market trends show premium dominance and budget alternatives
The global smartphone market is increasingly dominated by premium brands, as manufacturers shift focus toward higher-priced models to offset rising costs and shrinking margins in the budget segment. Apple and Samsung maintain a strong duopoly in the global market, with Apple selling approximately 240 million units annually and Samsung following closely behind.
Xiaomi remains a major player with over 160 million units distributed annually, though it has recently experienced a slight decline in growth. Other significant manufacturers include vivo, OPPO, Honor, Realme, and Motorola/Lenovo, which each account for between 50 and 100 million units per year.
Despite the trend toward expensive flagship devices exceeding 1,000 euros, quality options remain available in the budget sector. For instance, models like the Xiaomi Poco X6 offer competitive performance, such as Snapdragon chipsets and fast-charging capabilities, at price points below 300 euros.
