Smartphone use and health apps highlighted as tools for wellbeing in Greece

Researchers in Greece report that a new smartphone application can track an indicator linked to sexual health and overall longevity. The app utilizes phone sensors to collect data on physical activity, sleep, heart rate, mood and, where users choose, sexual activity. Algorithms analyse patterns to flag early signs of conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes or metabolic disorders, supporting preventive health monitoring.

Harvard professor Arthur Brooks, cited in Greek media, advises three simple changes to smartphone habits to improve quality of life: keep the phone away for the first hour after waking, keep it off the table during meals, and set it aside an hour before bedtime. He argues that these steps reduce distraction, strengthen personal relationships and improve sleep quality, thereby contributing to overall wellbeing.
