SmartRental Group to Open Akeah Hotel Near Barcelona Airport in 2028

SmartRental Group announced it will manage a new four‑star Akeah hotel in El Prat de Llobregat, located five minutes from Barcelona‑El Prat Airport, with an opening planned for 2028. The development is being funded equally by Magg Capital and ONIX Capital, while SmartRental will assume full operational responsibility under the Akeah brand.

The hotel will feature 161 rooms with private terraces across two buildings (seven and four storeys) totaling 12,600 m², plus a restaurant, meeting rooms, gym, outdoor pool, solarium and parking, offering views of the Barcelona coastline and the Delta del Llobregat. Designed by GCA Architects and Kardham interior designers, the project aims for BREEAM Excellent certification. Borja Sánchez, director of expansion, said, “This project brings together three of the elements we look for in our investments and operations: a strategic location, a differentiated product and a long‑term vision shared with our partners.” The addition brings the Akeah brand to six properties in operation or development and expands SmartRental’s European portfolio of more than 4,300 rooms.
