Smartwatch technology focuses on health monitoring and battery life
The smartwatch market continues to evolve through distinct approaches to health monitoring and battery longevity. Apple has highlighted the life-saving potential of its wearable technology through the case of a user named Amanda. After detecting abnormal resting heart rate changes and vital sign fluctuations during sleep via her Apple Watch, Amanda was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Following chemotherapy, she is currently in remission, attributing her timely medical intervention to the device’s continuous metric analysis.
In contrast, Huawei is focusing on battery efficiency and premium hardware with the launch of the Watch GT7 and Watch GT7 Pro. Unlike competitors that require frequent charging, Huawei’s new models utilize high-density silicon batteries, offering up to 21 days of autonomy under light use or 12 days under heavier usage. The GT7 Pro features high-end materials including a nanocrystalline ceramic bezel, titanium alloy frame, and sapphire crystal, aiming to compete with traditional Swiss watch aesthetics while providing essential health and notification services.
