Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam debut albums featured in listener vote
The Loudwire Nights radio show is hosting a listener vote to determine the superior 1991 grunge debut album between the Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Gish’ and Pearl Jam’s ‘Ten’.
Produced by Butch Vig and led by Billy Corgan, ‘Gish’ is described as a psychedelic, fuzzed-out record that has gained significant retroactive popularity through tracks such as ‘Rhinoceros’ and ‘Siva’. In contrast, Pearl Jam’s ‘Ten’ achieved immediate commercial success and helped bring the grunge genre into the mainstream with hits like ‘Alive’ and ‘Jeremy’.
Host Chuck Armstrong will introduce the matchup, with arguments presented throughout the week leading up to a final vote tally on Friday. The winning album will be featured in a dedicated rock block on the program.
