The Smashing Pumpkins release ‘Black Stars’ for Hunger Games soundtrack

The Smashing Pumpkins have released ‘Black Stars’, a new single featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming film ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’. The release marks a significant musical reunion, as the band has collaborated with producer Butch Vig for the first time since their 1993 album ‘Siamese Dream’.

Billy Corgan noted that the song originated while he was working on solo material before being adapted for the film’s universe. The recording sessions took place at Chaplin Studios in Los Angeles and in Chicago. The track is part of a 29-song soundtrack album, executive produced by Dave Cobb, which is scheduled for release on November 13 via MCA.

The film itself is slated for a theatrical release on November 20, 2026. The band is currently performing ‘Black Stars’ as part of their ‘Rats in a Cage Tour’ across North America.
