Smashing Pumpkins reunite with producer Butch Vig for new single

Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has discussed the band’s recent reunion with producer Butch Vig to record a new, untitled single. The collaboration marks the first time the group has worked with Vig in three decades, following his production of their early albums, Gish and Siamese Dream.

According to Chamberlin, the recording process lasted approximately six days and featured the band’s core lineup, including Billy Corgan and James Iha. Chamberlin emphasized the high level of trust he places in Vig, describing the experience as “magical.” The new track is expected to be released later this year and is being developed for a specific, yet to be revealed, purpose.
