SME growth and productivity discussed in Chile and Honduras

In Chile, Katia Trusich, executive director of Grande Pyme, highlighted the necessity of creating a symbiosis between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large corporations to drive national economic growth. Speaking ahead of the Summit País Digital 2026, Trusich noted that a McKinsey study revealed a 44% productivity gap between large and small companies in Chile, which is 16 percentage points higher than the average of 16 analyzed economies. She stated that closing this gap could immediately capture six percentage points of the country's GDP.

In Honduras, the Evolución Pyme Honduras 2026 event featured business leaders sharing strategies for resilience and growth. Panelists, including Diego Salustrio Paguada of Grupo Herpa, Manuel Rodríguez of Hush Naturals, and Marco Whoo of Wafflos, discussed overcoming critical operational risks, such as supply chain disruptions during the pandemic and high staff turnover. The discussions emphasized financial discipline, adaptability, and the transition from small-scale projects to international distribution networks.
