SME Ombudsman warns against weakening entrepreneur rights in new product control bill

The Ombudsman for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises has raised concerns regarding a draft bill concerning market supervision of products subject to EU harmonized legislation. The proposed law (UC45) aims to regulate market oversight, product controls, and sanctions for entities violating EU requirements.

Dagmara Rybicka, acting director of the Ombudsman’s Cabinet, emphasized that while effective market supervision is necessary, it must not undermine the legal guarantees provided to entrepreneurs under the Entrepreneurs' Law. The Ombudsman argues that new procedures should not allow for excessive or unpredictable administrative interference and insists that existing protections for businesses must take precedence during inspections.
