Smede Highway in St. Martin Parish to close for three weeks

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a three-week closure of LA 92-1 (Smede Highway) in St. Martin Parish. The closure is scheduled to begin Monday, August 24, at 7 a.m. and is expected to last until Monday, September 14, at 7 a.m., weather permitting.

The closure, located approximately 0.75 miles west of the intersection with LA 31, is necessary to facilitate the installation of new drainage structures. During this period, emergency vehicles will not have access to LA 92-1 and must utilize alternate routes.

Detour routes have been established for motorists. Westbound traffic will be directed via LA 31 (South Main Street) north to LA 96 (Terrace Highway), continuing west on LA 96, and then taking LA 182 (Old Spanish Trail Highway) south to reach LA 92-1. Eastbound traffic will use LA 182 (Old Spanish Trail Highway) north to LA 96 (Terrace Highway), continuing east on LA 96, and then taking LA 31 (South Main Street) south to reach LA 92-1.
