Smeltės progimnazija unveils new STEAM and science facilities
Smeltės progimnazija in Klaipėda has completed a significant phase of the ‘Millennium School II’ (TŪM) project. The initiative, which began in 2022, has resulted in the creation of several modern educational facilities designed to support integrated learning and practical experimentation.
New infrastructure includes a STEAM center for integrated lessons, a natural sciences laboratory equipped for experiments, a FabLab creative workshop, and renovated sports spaces. These facilities are intended to serve both students and the local community. The project also focuses on enhancing pedagogical competencies in areas such as leadership, inclusive education, and STEAM.
During the ‘PosTŪMis’ closing event, Klaipėda Mayor Arvydas Vaitkus presented a symbolic ‘PosTŪMis 2026’ key to the school director, Arūnas Matuzas. Matuzas noted that the upgrades, including a new small sports hall, address organizational challenges and provide students and teachers with greater opportunities for hands-on learning.
