SMEs in Mozambique and Panama target AI adoption for growth

In Mozambique, the Foundation for Business Competitiveness (FUNDEC) has proposed a National Artificial Intelligence Programme specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The proposal, presented in Maputo, aims to boost productivity and competitiveness by encouraging businesses to adopt and adapt existing AI technologies for tasks such as financial management, sales forecasting, and customer service, rather than developing proprietary algorithms.

In Panama, the National Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (Senacyt) is partnering with the Western Region Competitiveness Center (Cecomro) to implement an AI training program for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MiPymes) in the Chiriquí region. This initiative includes five weeks of training, mentorship, and the development of pilot projects to improve digital maturity and operational optimization, aligning with Panama’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.
