Smiljan Radić wins 2026 Pritzker Prize and Chile's National Architecture Award

Chilean architect Smiljan Radić was named the laureate of the 2026 Pritzker Architecture Prize, becoming the second architect from Chile to receive the award. The jury highlighted his poetic, experimental approach that blends architecture, landscape and memory.

The Colegio de Arquitectos de Chile announced that Radić, together with Alejandro Aravena, will share the 2026 National Architecture Prize, the country's highest professional honor. The joint award recognizes both architects' contributions—Aravena, a 2016 Pritzker laureate and founder of ELEMENTAL, for socially driven housing and urban projects, and Radić for material experimentation and sensitivity to place. Their work will be featured at the XXIV Bienal de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de Chile.
