Smoked fish products recalled due to Listeria concerns
Multiple seafood recalls have been issued due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination in smoked fish products.
In Ireland, SuperValu is recalling specific batches of smoked salmon. The affected items include 40g and 150g packs with a use-by date of 17 October 2026. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued an alert regarding these specific batch codes, noting that listeriosis can cause gastrointestinal symptoms in healthy individuals and more severe illness in vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, infants, and the elderly.
In the United States, Krasnyi Oktyabr Inc. is recalling Starfish Seafood Trio, a ready-to-eat pack containing cold-smoked salmon, halibut, and trout. The 8-ounce vacuum-sealed packages carry lot number D139149161-153 and an expiration date of Dec. 1, 2027. The product, which originated in Latvia, was distributed across New York, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and South Carolina. No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
