Smriti Mandhana discusses emotional boundaries and cricket
Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana recently discussed her emotional resilience and boundaries during an appearance on Raj Shamani’s podcast. When asked about the ‘hardest night’ of her life, Mandhana alluded to a World Cup experience but stated, “I’ll only speak about cricket,” to keep the conversation focused on her professional career rather than her personal life.
Mandhana also addressed how she manages sadness and overwhelming emotions. She noted that she tends to become quiet when upset and expressed a strong dislike for receiving sympathy. Describing her stance on being viewed with pity, she stated, “Don’t look at me like I am a bechari (‘oh, poor thing’); I am fine,” emphasizing her desire to avoid being treated with condescension or excessive concern from others.
