SMSI to inaugurate News Room Jaga Desa working group in Jakarta

The Indonesian Cyber Media Union (SMSI) has scheduled the simultaneous inauguration of the News Room Jaga Desa working group (Pokja) for five major provinces. The ceremony is set to take place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Press Council Building in Jakarta.

The provinces involved in this inauguration include East Java, Central Java, West Java, South Sumatra, and Bengkulu. This follows previous organizational formations in Bali, Lampung, Banten, and the Riau Islands.

SMSI Secretary General Makali Kumar addressed speculations regarding the timing of the event, which coincides with planned large-scale demonstrations in Jakarta. Kumar denied any political motives behind the gathering, stating that the scheduling is a coincidence of organizational planning.
