SMTUC opens four recruitment competitions for staff
The Coimbra Municipal Urban Transport Services (SMTUC) has launched four recruitment competitions to hire seven workers across the areas of driving, maintenance, engineering, and administrative support. This initiative aims to address the 56 currently vacant positions within the organization's personnel map.
The recruitment processes, published in the Diário da República, allow for applications through the Public Employment Exchange (Bolsa de Emprego Público) for a period of 10 working days. This marks the second recruitment wave in 2026, following an August procedure that will bring five new bus driving operational assistants into service starting September 1.
Specific roles include:
• One operational assistant for public transport agent duties, responsible for driving, ticket sales, and passenger information. While only one position is initially open, a recruitment reserve may allow for up to 25 hires over 18 months. Candidates require a Category D driver's license and a Driver Qualification Card (CQM).
• One technical assistant for administrative support, including accounting, human resources, and public service, requiring a 12th-grade education or equivalent.
• Two senior technicians for maintenance and conservation of vehicles, buildings, and equipment. These roles require a degree, preferably in Electromechanical, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, and membership in the Order of Engineers.
