SMU defeats Boston College 25-16 in ACC matchup

No. 21 SMU defeated Boston College 25-16 in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup in Dallas. The Mustangs utilized a strong defensive performance, recording five sacks against Boston College quarterback Mason McKenzie and holding the Eagles scoreless for seven consecutive possessions during much of the game.

SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings threw two touchdown passes in the second half, one to Randy Pittman Jr. and another to Derrick McFall. Despite being outgained in total yardage, SMU's defense and ability to force turnovers helped secure the victory, moving the Mustangs to a 4-1 record.

Boston College head coach Bill O’Brien attributed the loss to a lack of discipline, noting that the team committed a season-high 11 penalties. O’Brien emphasized the need for better blocking and execution to combat aggressive defensive pressure in future games.
