SMU defeats Virginia 23-13 to extend home ACC winning streak

No. 24 SMU defeated the University of Virginia 23-13 at Gerald J. Ford Stadium, maintaining an undefeated home record in ACC play since joining the conference in 2024. SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings threw two touchdown passes and surpassed 10,000 career passing yards during the contest. Running back Kendrick Raphael contributed 124 rushing yards to the victory.

Virginia struggled offensively, managing only 258 total yards and scoring just three points in the second half. The Cavaliers were hampered by significant roster attrition, missing key players including wide receivers Kam Courtney and Rico Flores Jr., as well as defensive backs Omillio Agard and Corey Costner. A critical fumble by Virginia quarterback Beau Pribula and a late roughing-the-passer penalty in the first half contributed to the momentum shift.

SMU's defense, led by linebacker Alexander Kilgore, held Virginia to just 137 passing yards. The win moves SMU to 5-1 overall, while Virginia falls to 4-3.
