SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings expected to return for Florida State opener
SMU Mustangs head coach Rhett Lashlee expressed confidence in star quarterback Kevin Jennings ahead of the season opener against Florida State. Jennings has been recovering from a jammed finger sustained during fall camp, but Lashlee reported that the redshirt senior has begun throwing again and is experiencing no pain.
Lashlee expects Jennings to be “100%” and ready to start Week 1 after ramping up his activity this week. The quarterback enters his final collegiate season following a productive year in which he recorded 3,641 passing yards and 26 touchdowns.
As SMU enters the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the team faces a challenging early schedule, including road tests at Florida State and Louisville. While the roster has seen departures in the rushing and receiving corps, the Mustangs aim to build on their recent success and contend for a conference championship.
