Smurfit Westrock invests 11 million euros in Anzio plant
Smurfit Westrock has inaugurated a new high-tech production line at its facility near Rome, following an investment of 11 million euros. The expansion aims to increase the capacity for corrugated cardboard packaging and high-quality printed displays to meet growing market demands.
The new equipment, a Bobst Mastercut 2 flatbed die-cutter, allows for printing up to six colors with high precision. This investment is expected to increase production capacity by over 20 million square meters and boost hourly productivity by more than 20%. The company plans to implement three-shift operations to meet anticipated demand.
Gianluca Castellini, CEO of Smurfit Westrock Italy, noted that the investment is one of the most significant made in the country in recent years. The new line also focuses on sustainability by reducing consumption and utilizing water-based inks.
