SNAI denies reports of recent prison riots in Ecuador

The National Service for the Integral Attention of Persons Deprived of Liberty and Adolescents in Conflict with the Law (SNAI) has denied reports circulating on social media regarding alleged riots in Ecuadorian prisons. The institution clarified that all detention centers remain under control and are under permanent surveillance by the Police, Armed Forces, and the Penitentiary Security and Vigilance Body.

SNAI stated that the audiovisual material being shared online, which shows violence and confrontations between inmates and police, does not depict current events. Instead, the footage corresponds to incidents that occurred at previous dates. The agency urged the public to verify information through official channels to avoid spreading disinformation or causing unnecessary alarm among citizens and inmates' families.
