Snake plant care tips for indoor environments
Snake plants (Dracaena trifasciata) are highly adaptable indoor plants capable of surviving in low light and low humidity. However, improper care can lead to yellowing leaves, root rot, and stunted growth.
To maintain healthy plants, experts suggest avoiding fixed watering schedules. Instead of watering on a set day, owners should check if the soil is dry, as overwatering is a primary cause of root rot. During growth periods, soil should be allowed to dry between waterings, and frequency should decrease during colder months. Using pots with drainage holes is also essential.
Regarding light, while snake plants can tolerate low-light environments, they do not thrive in total darkness. They perform best with indirect light or occasional direct light, though intense direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent leaf burn.
