During the rainy season, snakes are more likely to move into dry areas around homes, increasing the risk of encounters in Vietnam and Indonesia. Six observable signs can indicate a snake is nearby: shed skins left in corners, piles of unusual droppings that resemble elongated, white‑tailed waste, S‑shaped tracks on dust or sand, a sudden drop in rodent activity, a strong musty odor in enclosed spaces, and repeated sightings of the same signs in the same location.

Residents are advised not to handle any suspected snakes, to photograph them from a safe distance, and to contact local animal‑rescue services for removal. Wearing gloves when cleaning unusual droppings and sealing entry points such as gaps under doors, vents, and drainage pipes can also reduce the chance of snakes entering homes.
