SNAMI union demands medical specialization and reform

The SNAMI union has reaffirmed its long-standing demands regarding the restructuring of general medicine in Italy. The organization is calling for the abolition of the 'single role' (ruolo unico), the introduction of university specialization for general practitioners, and the removal of mandatory hours within Community Houses (Case della Comunità).

SNAMI has expressed disagreement with recent agreements signed by other unions, such as FIMMG and FMT, which introduced a requirement for up to six hours of presence per week in Community Houses. SNAMI argues that such agreements allow health authorities too much discretion over scheduling and location, thereby reducing the bargaining power of regional negotiations. The union intends to push these issues during the upcoming renewal of the ACN, expected by September 30.
