Snap Inc. opens pre-orders for SPECS AR glasses
Snap Inc. has begun accepting pre-orders for its SPECS augmented reality (AR) glasses in the United States, United Kingdom, and France. The device is designed to overlay digital Lenses and applications onto the user's physical environment, offering features such as virtual screens for media, heads-up navigation, and digital whiteboards for collaboration.
The hardware features a see-through waveguide with a 51-degree field of view and custom stereo speakers built into the temples. The glasses are available in two sizes: a 47mm narrow fit and a 52mm wide fit, weighing between 132 and 136 grams. While lighter than previous developer prototypes, the device remains significantly heavier than competitors like the Meta Ray-Ban glasses.
Developers can create content for the device using Snap’s Lens Studio, which supports shared experiences through the company’s Sync Framework. Pre-orders require a refundable deposit to reserve a pair.
