Snap unveils Specs AR glasses with dual Snapdragon chips and eye‑tracking

Snap announced its new Specs augmented‑reality glasses at the AWE USA 2026 conference. The device houses two Snapdragon processors—one for lens control and one for computer‑vision tasks—along with two high‑resolution color cameras, two infrared cameras, and six‑axis inertial sensors for precise head‑tracking. Specs feature a 51‑degree field of view displayed through a waveguide LCoS system, stereo audio, gesture control, and USB‑C connectivity that can also act as an external monitor. Weighing 132‑136 g depending on frame size, the glasses support interchangeable prescription lenses and offer up to four hours of mixed‑use battery life.

At the VivaTech exhibition in Paris, a Dubai‑based startup demonstrated a prototype smart contact lens called XPANCEO. The lens incorporates a micro‑display that projects images directly onto the eye, with a separate wireless ear‑like module providing power and additional processing. While still experimental, the prototype aims to enable eye‑controlled AR interactions and could eventually monitor health metrics such as glucose and cortisol levels via tear analysis.
