Snapchat adds real‑time music sharing to Snap Map via Spotify
Snapchat has launched a new "Now Playing" feature on its Snap Map, allowing users to broadcast the songs they are listening to on Spotify in real time. The integration is currently limited to Spotify, with Snap indicating that support for other streaming services may be added later.
When a user links their Spotify account, the currently playing track appears on the Snap Map for friends. Tapping the song opens a menu where users can play the track in Spotify, add it to their liked songs, or view related Snapchat Spotlight videos. Privacy controls let users choose who can see the music activity – all friends, friends on the map, selected friends, or nobody.
Snap reports that the Snap Map is used by about 450 million people each month. The feature was announced in a blog post and has been reported in Germany, Spain and Finland as the first markets where it is available.
