Snapchat introduces Plans feature for social event organizing

Snap Inc. is introducing a new suite of features called ‘Snapchat Plans’ designed to facilitate real-world social gatherings. Despite the name, the service is not a new subscription model but a toolset intended to help users transition from digital conversations to in-person meetups.

Users can create events by selecting a title, date, and time, and can invite up to 200 friends. The feature includes dynamic cover art powered by Bitmoji that updates as the event takes shape. Invitations are sent directly within chats, allowing guests to RSVP with options such as ‘Going’, ‘Maybe’, or ‘Can’t Go’ without disrupting the flow of conversation.

To maintain privacy, all plans are invite-only and restricted to mutual friends. The suite aims to centralize event details—including attendees and scheduling—in one accessible location within the app, reducing the need to manage information across multiple chat threads.
