Snapmaker launches U1 toolchanger 3D printer in Australia
Snapmaker has officially launched its U1 toolchanger 3D printer in the Australian market, with availability through retailers JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman as of October 15, 2026. The U1 utilizes a four-toolhead architecture designed to facilitate multi-color and multi-material printing. Unlike traditional systems that reload filament through a single nozzle, the U1 swaps entire toolheads, a process that takes approximately five seconds in laboratory testing. This method is reported to reduce filament waste by up to 85 percent compared to shared-nozzle systems.
In conjunction with its hardware expansion, the Snapmaker Innovation Fund has identified twenty community projects aimed at improving the U1 ecosystem. This initiative, part of a larger 150,000 dollar program, provides funding and visibility to users developing hardware accessories, software tools, firmware updates, and slicing improvements. The fund seeks to foster an ecosystem of external modifications and specialized tools to extend the printer's utility for various professional and hobbyist applications.
