Snapmaker launches U1 toolchanger 3D printer in Australia
Snapmaker has launched its U1 toolchanger 3D printer in Australia, making the device available through retailers JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman. The U1 is designed to facilitate faster and more efficient multi-color and multi-material printing.
Unlike traditional systems that reload different filaments through a single nozzle, the U1 utilizes four independent toolheads. This architecture allows each material to remain in its own filament path, with the machine swapping the entire toolhead during color or material changes. According to Snapmaker laboratory testing, a typical tool change takes approximately five seconds. This method is reported to reduce filament waste by up to 85% compared to shared-nozzle systems.
The printer supports a combination of different materials, such as rigid and flexible filaments, within a single project. Technical features include automatic multi-toolhead calibration, automated filament loading, print monitoring, and a build volume of 270 × 270 × 270 mm.
