SNCC resumes Hirondelle train service between Lubumbashi and Ilebo
The Société nationale des chemins de fer du Congo (SNCC) has officially resumed passenger services with the launch of the Hirondelle train. The service operates from Lubumbashi in Haut-Katanga province to Ilebo in Kasaï, passing through Kananga in Kasaï-Central.
SNCC Director General Fabien Mutomb Kan Kato stated that the resumption of this ordinary mail train service reflects the company's determination to improve traffic and serve the population. The route, which includes stops in Mwene-Ditu, is considered a strategic corridor for enhancing mobility and facilitating commercial exchanges between several provinces.
The initiative is part of a long-term revitalization program by the state-owned enterprise to improve connectivity across the country through its multimodal transport network.
