SNCF offers €40 group day pass from Basel to Paris
French rail operator SNCF offers a group day pass for travel between Basel and Paris, as well as within the Grand Est region. The pass costs €40 for a group of two to five people, which can reduce the cost to as little as €8 per person.
The pass is valid on Saturdays, Sundays, and French public holidays. It is applicable for regional trains and buses (TER Fluo) but is not valid on long-distance TGV trains. Travelers on routes to and from Paris Gare de l’Est, specifically the Paris–Strasbourg and Paris–Troyes–Mulhouse lines, must obtain a free seat reservation via the SNCF website.
Tickets must be booked online, and passengers are required to present a photo ID during travel. While the pass offers significant savings, the journey from Basel to Paris via regional rail takes approximately six hours.
