SNCF Réseau modernizes Dijon-Paris rail line amid local fire disruptions

SNCF Réseau is conducting a major modernization project on the Dijon-Paris railway line in Plombières-lès-Dijon. The €4.9 million operation involves renewing four switches and reconstructing tracks, including the deployment of 1,300 tonnes of ballast. To minimize impact on passenger and freight traffic, work is scheduled during daily unavailability windows between 10:00 and 15:30, involving approximately 30 agents and three partner companies.

Separately, a fire near the railway network in Plombières-lès-Dijon caused significant traffic disruptions. The incident led to delays for trains heading toward Paris-Bercy and the cancellation of services toward Les Laumes-Alésia and Lausanne. One train was halted on the tracks, requiring approximately 40 passengers to walk a distance of about 1 km along the tracks to Velars-sur-Ouche before being transported to Dijon by taxi. SNCF stated that passengers walked ‘en toute sécurité car aucun train ne circule plus’ (in total safety because no more trains were running).
