SNCF Voyageurs expands Train + Air service with new airline partnerships
SNCF Voyageurs is expanding its ‘Train + Air’ intermodal booking service through new partnerships with Air France and KM Malta Airlines. The service allows passengers to book rail and flight segments together in a single transaction, providing connection guarantees in the event of delays or cancellations.
Air France has integrated the OUIGO budget rail brand into its offerings for connections through Paris-Charles de Gaulle. This expansion follows a successful pilot phase and aims to optimize airport slots for long-haul flights by shifting short-haul feeder traffic to rail, particularly in response to French regulations prohibiting domestic flights on routes where rail alternatives exist under two and a half hours.
Additionally, KM Malta Airlines has partnered with SNCF Voyageurs to connect Malta to various destinations across France and Brussels. These journeys will utilize high-speed rail services, including TGV INOUI and OUIGO, via hubs at Paris Charles-de-Gaulle and Lyon Saint-Exupéry. This partnership is intended to increase connectivity for passengers traveling to and from Malta by leveraging the extensive French rail network.
