Sønderborg Airport to launch Apollo charter flights to Greece

Apollo Rejser has announced the launch of its first charter program from Sønderborg Airport, scheduled for the summer of 2027. The initiative aims to provide direct flights to two Greek destinations: Chania on Crete and Ioannina in northwestern Greece.

The program includes 18 total departures, offering a capacity of approximately 3,282 seats each way. This expansion is expected to potentially increase the airport's passenger numbers by up to 10 percent. The flights to Chania will be operated by Aegean Airlines using Airbus A320-200 aircraft, while the routes to Ioannina will be serviced by Airseven using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

For Sønderborg Airport, this partnership represents a significant milestone in addressing seasonal demand fluctuations. Airport Director Jákup Sverri Kass noted that the collaboration recognizes the region's potential and provides a streamlined travel experience compared to larger alternative airports.
