Sønderborg housing project to replace student dormitory with 100 apartments

A new residential development featuring approximately 100 apartments is planned for the corner of Bosager and Prins Henriks Avenue in Sønderborg. The project involves the demolition of the existing building currently housing the Prins Henrik Kollegiet, a temporary student dormitory containing 45 units.

Hanssen Ejendomme purchased the site in 2023 for 13 million DKK. The proposed construction consists of four point blocks ranging from four to six stories in height. According to StudieBolig Syd, the current dormitory is scheduled to close on September 1, 2027.

A local plan proposal and environmental assessment have been sent for an eight-week public hearing. While environmental studies regarding road noise and bat populations indicated potential impacts, the overall assessment concludes the project will result in a minor negative environmental impact. The municipality expects no significant changes to local traffic conditions.
