Sándor Brassói resigns as president of the Hungarian Educational Authority
Sándor Brassói, the president of the Hungarian Educational Authority (Oktatási Hivatal), has submitted his resignation from his presidential position and government official status, effective October 1. Brassói has led the authority since September 1, 2020.
In his announcement, Brassói emphasized that his decision is not rooted in political or personal conflicts, noting his history as a non-partisan leader who has worked with twelve different education ministers across nine consecutive governments. He attributed his departure to human factors, stating that after more than forty years of continuous public service, he no longer feels he can perform his responsibilities with the same level of energy and total dedication required for the role.
During his tenure, Brassói noted that the authority became a more modern and efficient engine for the Hungarian education system. The Educational Authority serves as the central administrative body for managing public and higher education institutions, including student and teacher data management and the organization of graduation exams.
