Sneaker culture expands through historical documentation and Nike SB collaborations

The global sneaker culture continues to evolve from athletic footwear into significant cultural symbols and collector items. A new book by expert Neal Heard explores this history, documenting 300 influential models from brands such as Adidas, Puma, Nike, New Balance, Asics, and Reebok, tracing their impact on fashion and street culture.

In a related development, Nike SB has launched a new City Pack featuring the Air Force 1 silhouette, designed in collaboration with four international skate shops. This project draws inspiration from the 1984 ‘Color of the Month’ program to celebrate local community identities. The collaboration includes Ben-G in Amsterdam (brown and purple), Instant Skateboards in Japan (black and royal blue), Fly Streetwear in China (off-white and yellow), and Nocturnal in the United States (grey and green).
